One of the consistent trends I’ve noticed throughout the many conversations I’ve had with small business owners is that a great number of their journeys into the product business world marked the end of an often well-established and successful career - sometimes completely unrelated to their current independent endeavours. Gayle Mansfield could have gone back to her role as a project manager for a social housing partnership after her maternity leave, but instead found herself harnessing her creative powers and love of interior design and gradually shifting from working part-time producing beautifully minimalist art prints to running her own design studio in Sussex.
